CATweasel Inventory Manager \u2013 Intelligent Bill of Materials Management for Workshop and Logistics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The CATweasel Inventory Manager<\/strong> is the logistics module of the CATweasel Toolkit and helps businesses manage bills of materials efficiently and make the best use of existing stock levels. Particularly in workshops and smaller, manually managed warehouses that are not fully integrated into a central ERP system, the Inventory Manager can significantly reduce manual effort and ensure transparent material flows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus is currently on the bill of materials filter<\/strong> and the bill of materials sorter<\/strong>. The bill of materials filter automatically compares a project bill of materials with an existing stock list. This produces two clear lists: one containing all items that are already available, and a second containing the materials that need to be procured specifically for the project. The manual comparison of the lists that was previously standard practice is no longer needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill of materials sorter<\/strong> then optimises the sequence in which materials are picked to make retrieval as fast as possible. Instead of having long walks searching through the warehouse, the user receives a logically sorted picking list based on the actual warehouse layout. This saves time, reduces walking distances and supports an efficient flow of materials in production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CATweasel Inventory Manager is particularly effective wherever decentralised warehouse structures are in place. These include traditional manually managed stockrooms with Kanban inventory management, as well as material supply for assembly operations and worker assistance systems. Even if these storage areas are not part of an ERP system, they can still be incorporated into material planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A typical application scenario involves DIN rail assembly workstations with pick-by-light support. Here, standard components are permanently located at the workstation and are immediately available for production. The CATweasel Inventory Manager automatically identifies this inventory and separates it from project-specific materials. As a result, only items that are actually required are ordered, whilst components already in stock are used directly from the workstation inventory. This avoids unnecessary orders, reduces material costs and simplifies project preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
